# GovCon MCP by G2X The agentic context layer for GovCon. Connect your AI assistant to G2X for opportunity research, award and company context, solicitation review and your pursuit workflow. ## When to use GovCon MCP - Find federal, state and local, SBIR/STTR and DIBBS opportunities and forecasts that fit a company, with the evidence behind each recommendation. - Understand what an agency buys and who wins it: filter, count and aggregate supported award records. - Research an incumbent, competitor or teaming partner: awards, contract vehicles, relationships and people. - Read solicitation documents and amendments in full, as Markdown or JSON, with citations. - Work in the user's G2X account when they ask: watchlists, saved searches, pipelines, GovCon CRM notes and follow-ups, and requirements or qualification analysis. Your account permissions apply to every call. Read tools/list before constructing arguments. ## Document formats and completeness Ask for the complete document in Markdown, JSON or both. Markdown is for readable text; JSON preserves the supplied document structure. A page, excerpt or list of document names does not satisfy that request. A complete result must preserve the document version, tables and citations. If this connection cannot return the complete artifact, say so and use a supported source-document link; do not present partial text as a full document or start analysis just to obtain it. ## Plans and access Connect your G2X account. Use the advertised authorization server with authorization code and PKCE S256. Use the OAuth registration for your client. A G2X API key is not a replacement for this sign-in flow. Keep credentials out of prompts and URLs. ## Requirements and qualification Find the opportunity and retrieve stored source content and existing results first. Keep document versions and citations with the result. Do not present a page or partial result as the whole document. Use the user's chosen agent for new interpretation, qualification and drafting by default, then save requested outputs through supported G2X actions. Do not start hosted analysis merely to read documents or save work. Only if the user explicitly chooses G2X-hosted analysis, select the source documents and use g2x_shred_opportunity for requirements or g2x_qualify_opportunity for company fit, following the connected schemas. Keep the returned run ID and poll g2x_get_analysis_run. Retrieve the compliance matrix with the qualification run ID when its schema requires that identifier. Make only requested account changes, and resume an existing run on timeout instead of restarting it. ## Usage and rate limits Open your G2X account menu to check Lumen usage. An agent can report the balance only when its connection provides an account-usage capability. The service applies account permissions, usage limits and request limits. Check the response for the action available to your account. Each plan also sets a pace, a number of requests a minute, shared by all of your connections. Checking your usage or an analysis run's status does not count toward it. When a request returns HTTP 429, the message says which limit was reached and when to try again, for example “You've reached your plan's limit of 30 requests a minute. Try again in 2 seconds.” Wait that long before trying again. A request limit is not a price, and it is not a measure of remaining Lumen usage. Do not estimate an account balance from the number of tool calls. ## Errors and recovery - HTTP 401: reconnect using the authentication method configured in your client. For OAuth, check the client registration and callback with G2X support. - HTTP 429: a limit was reached. Wait for the time the message names; do not retry in a loop. - HTTP 503: G2X is busy and the request did not run. Try again in a few seconds. - GET /mcp returns HTTP 405: use MCP JSON-RPC POST with Content-Type: application/json and Accept: application/json, text/event-stream. - Check tool isError responses and required workflow prerequisites. Use bounded retries and keep analysis run IDs. ## Protocol and discovery The stateless Streamable HTTP transport negotiates the protocol version at initialization. tools/list provides the authoritative input schemas, descriptions and annotations. MCP Apps clients may render interactive cards; other clients receive text and structured data.
